Every day that I manage to write something, I will post it on dA unedited, and link to it in this journal.
Underneath the chapter list is a reprint of my last journal, to explain what I was thinking 2 days before I embarked on this foolishness.

Like most people, I am far too busy to write a novel. Not only do I lack the time, I'm also pretty well convinced I lack the talent to sustain a reader's interest for more than a page or so (although several people have read The Auspicious Day and lbl to the end, which should give me some confidence).
Unlike most people, I am going to write a novel. In 30 days. Yes, November is National Novel Writing Month, and I've got the NaNoWriMo bug. So starting Thursday I'm going to be reckless with my sanity and attempt to meet the NaNoWriMo target or 50,000 words in 30 days (put your calculators away: that's 1,667 words per day).
Yes, I am going to do this (imagine me saying that in the same sighing voice I use to pretend I'm fine). Despite working 40+ hours a week, and being completely unwilling to sacrifice church, Reality, or The New Root's first headline gig on the 14th November (in Bristol), I will have finished my first novel by the time December comes.
What's more, every night I'm going to post what I've written that day so that anyone who is interested can follow my descent into madness as the plot-holes swallow my characters before they can reach their prime, and the dialogue becomes increasingly absurd and contrived.
It's going to be wonderful and terrible all at the same time. Look forward to it.

I Only Get In Touch When I Want Something...
So, I guess it's been about 3 years since I last logged in to dA. Hi.
Obviously, I need money. I won't insult your intelligence by pretending this is a social call.
In 2007/8 I wrote a novel called "It is Better to Marry than to Burn" and published the first draft of each chapter here as I wrote it. Last Summer, I pulled it all offline to edit it and self-publish as an eBook.
Right now, I'm using Kickstarter to fund a print run of the paperback. Find out more and get involved right here.
Read the opening chapters here.
I've also been doing this "Sketch Busking" thing, which is like regular busking, but with sketches. Intrigued?
As if th

Grateful it Doesn't Smell Like Horror...
A problem with the lights gives our bathroom an atmosphere of Survival Horror, with buzzing and flickering and insufficient illumination. Which, obviously, is awesome.
Probably won't seem so awesome next time I have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night following dreams of a zombie apocalypse, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
Desire vs. Comfort
I am upstairs.
Dr. Pepper is downstairs.

He can't hear me.
Why did I leave him behind?
Is my desire strong enough to draw me out of this place of comfort?
It remains to be seen.
